America's Next Baby Models...

The girls had the honor of being models this past weekend for the talented Robin Adams' photography class. Robin is the photographer who took the girls newborn pictures. I was so happy, they only had 1 minor meltdown. They were not very fond of the grass (note for next time), but once the blanket came out they were in heaven. My girls love blankets. Here are some of my favorite pictures from one the the participants in the shoot.

Splish Splash We 're Taking a Bath

So it only took us 7 months and the girls mastering sitting to figure out the most efficient way to give the girls a bath.

I first put Emma in and true to her fearless self she LOVED it. She is going to be the daredevil, risk taking child. Lily was a bit more apprehensive, in fact she started to cry when she realized what I was trying to do. Once she was in, she was much better and actually loved being in the sink. They were both slashing and playing with their rubber duckies. There are a few pictures where they are holding on to one another, which is really cute. So here are a few pictures from our sink bathing experiment. We will be doing it this way until they grow out of the sink.

Our World Has Started to Change

I was just getting used to the idea of having mobile babies. They girls have been "snaking" for some time now and they are now officially crawling. It's really neat to see the looks on their face when they are in romper room and see a toy that they want and just go and get it. They are so proud of themselves and it shows. They are so happy that they can just move and get what they want and "sniffle sniffle" are not so dependent on mom and dad to get them to toy.
I knew that this day would come, but I don't think that we were quite prepared for this. So I go to get Lily and Emma up this morning and this is what I walked into-

She was so happy. She was acting like she does this every morning. So I get her out of the crib, change her diaper and get her dressed for the day. And like I do every morning, I put her into Emma's crib and then do the process for Emma. So there I am changing Emma's diaper and out the corner of my eye this is what I saw-

YES, that is Lily and YES she pulled herself up and is standing in her crib. She was beaming from ear-to-ear. We are in trouble now!!!
p.s. just because she is so darn cute a pic from Em this morning (you can see her teeth)

"EMMMM-MA and MAAAAA-MA"

So last night after we put the girls to bed, they were a little fussy. Nothing really wrong, just the "fuss and muss" that they sometimes do when they are falling asleep. So after about 10 minutes I went up to see what the problem was. So I go up and as usual there was nothing wrong, in fact they both smiled and laughed at me when I came up. What I saw though, was new. We had placed both girls in their cribs, facing the opposite direction of each other. So when I went to check on them they were both at the end where both cribs meet. Emma brought her toys with her and pulled the bumper down and was using it as a pillow. Lily was pulling her bumper down and reaching between the cribs towards Emma's. Lily was whining in the sleepy tone and keep saying "emmmmm-ma", "emmmmm-ma", "emmmmm-ma". So I stood there for a few seconds watching this and then she looked up and said "maaaaa-ma". Now Lily has said it before, but this time she looked up and me and said it. It was great. I wish that I would have had the camera and gotten a video of that.

I did however get one of them today doing something very similar. If you listen closely at the end you can hear Lily saying "emmmm-ma"

212

212- that's how many days that Lily and Emma have been in our lives. Today is their 7 month birthday. There are some days when I think about the time and it seems like it is going so slow, but they other days I'm like where has the time gone. Today is one of those "fast" days. I can't believe that it has been 7 months...WOW. It seems like yesterday that we were in the hospital "learning" how we would handle having two babies at the same time.

The girls are more and more active everyday. They are entertaining themselves and interacting with one another. Well, it's more like Lily interacts with Emma to take whatever toy it is that Emma has. Emma just rolls over Lily. It's a start :-).

Here are the pictures from our monthly photo shoot.

These group pictures are getting tougher and tougher each month. They want to wrestle with the bear, eat the paper and do anything and everything except look at the camera.

6 Months

I thought it would be a good idea to start blogging when the girls turned 6 months old. So on their 6 month birthday I decided on the name of blog and that is as far as I got. So now at almost 7 months old I am finally making my first post.

I figured that now would be a good time. The first three months, they were baby blobs. Cute, but they really did not do much more that eat, sleep and poop. Not all the exciting. During months 4 and 5 they started to develop their own personalities and really began to see the world. And in turn, I began to see the world in a different way. Now by 6 months they are babbling, moving and soaking it all in. I know that the next 6 months are going to be even better.

So here is a recap of the first 6 months of motherhood and our lives with Lily and Emma.

* They were born on October 8, 2009. Lily Claire was born at 12pm and weighed 6lbs and Emma Grace was born at 12:13pm and weighed 5lbs.
* They are great sleepers and have been sleeping from 7p to 630/7a since they were 4 months old.
* I make all their food. They eat: avocado, pears, apples, butternut squash, sweet potatoes, peaches, summer squash, green beans, peas, carrots, bananas, plums and papaya. I would have to say that their favorite food is nanercado.
* Lily has said "emmmm-maaaa" once and they both are babbling fools.
* They both have 2 bottom teeth, Lily's came in first and Emma's followed about 2 weeks later.
* They love their jump-a-roos and walkers. They love to chase Casey around the living room in their walkers.
* If you hold Lily's fingers, she will walk around with you.
* Today they both got up on all fours and started to scoot, they are also army crawling.

Here are a few pictures of Lil and Em's first 6 months:
