New Artwork

Last year one of my CB Mamas posted about the great art project where you tape out a name and then have the kids finger paint over it.  Once the paint dries, you remove the tape and the name is still there.  I've been working up the nerve to do this last weekend.  I got the canvas' from Hobby Lobby for $7 and we had the finger paint.  It was so much fun and I think they turned out great.

Getting everything ready

Lily was not sure of what was going on.

Emma was ready to go.

Still a little apprehensive, but ready to give it a try.
Waiting for it to dry.  I love the handprint.

Emma really really liked to paint.

We will definitely do this again.  A fun time was had by all.  Maybe next time we will get pictures of the actual process.

    1. You can use paper or even cardstock. I have seen people use both.

  4. I saw this on Pinterest and did it with my daughter. She's under a year, so I had to watch her to make sure she didn't eat the paint, but she had a ton of fun. We spelled out "Dad" and gave it to my husband, where he made a frame for it and proudly hung it in his woodworking shop.

Thanks so much for the idea! I posted a blog about my experience and a picture of our finished project over at my blog at www.bigheartslittlehands.wordpress.com. It's actually my first post! :)

  6. We LOVED this! We did it on fingerpaint paper, so the tape removed very easily. I blogged it today and linked to you. Thanks for a fun project!

  7. Did you use painter's tape? Trying to do this with my niece this weekend and my mom and I are having some differences of opinions.
It looks like it's painter's tape, but she's afraid that it'll rip the canvas?

  8. It was blue painters tape that was used. It did not pull the canvas as all. I have done others with regular masking tape and that worked also.

  12. This seems like a great project. I want to get a canvas piece with my wife's name on it for her birthday, but I like the ones that are pictures of letters. Where can I find one of these?
